Hello All! Greetings from Uganda a.k.a the “Pearl of Africa”. I am Mikael, a former volunteer at Mustard Seed Fair Trade. Before graduating from Mizzou, I applied to the Peace Corps. As a volunteer, Jessica had been with me along the way, and she even wrote one of the three recommendations required to apply. I finished the 8 week training and I officially swore in as a Peace Corps Volunteer 2 weeks ago. I am living in northern Uganda for the next two years working with an organization primarily doing HIV/AIDS education and lifeskills exercises within schools.
Mustard Seed sells many products that are from Uganda, including SUUBI and the Sseko sandals you all love. In my free time, I plan to travel around Uganda (and some neighboring countries if my funds permit) and blog about interesting things I come across. You’ll see firsthand how purchases similar to the ones you make at Mustard Seed effect the lives of many. Dong Maber! (Bye for now)

I travel to Uganda every 6mths and have an nonprofit org outside Kampala called Set Her Free. I also have a sister that owns Yoga Sol in Columbia MO. I travel there every Sept for the Roots n Blues festival that she & her husband run. I plan to visit Mustard Seed because I know the girls that run Sseko in Kampala. Our girls make paper bead jewelry and I would love for Mustard Seed to carry our jewelry. I will bring some with me to show. Please check out our org and visit our girls while you are staying in Uganda. So grateful for all that you do.
