At Mustard Seed Fair Trade we strive to cultivate an environment of service. As we find opportunities to give back to the community, we also provide opportunities for community members to contribute.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life with a variety of skills and experiences. Let us help you discover how you fit in.
In-Store Staff
Support Mustard Seed by engaging the community in fair trade education and providing responsive customer service.
Frequency: once a week, every other week or once a month.
Shifts: 9:30am-1pm, 12-3:30pm or 3-6:30pm, (6-8:30pm shift on Fridays)
Location: In-store
Off-Site Support Staff
Expand our store’s impact at off-site events through the merchandise sales, fair trade education, and volunteer recruitment.
Frequency: Periodic, evenings and weekends
Shifts: varying
Location: Columbia and surrounding areas
Blog Contributor
Develop our internet presence by contributing blog articles and updates related to the Fair Trade mission.
Frequency: Once a week, as available
Shifts: flexible
Location: this can be done from any computer with internet access
Group Volunteering
Contribute to the mission of Mustard Seed by supporting store operations with group projects for 3-6 people.
Frequency: as available
Shifts: flexible, please contact us at least two weeks before your desired date of service
Location: most of our group projects involve in-store needs (spring cleaning, recycling, etc). we can use group support at our off-site events as well. see the myFairTrade section for more information
The Arts
Bring your creative skills to the table and help contribute to our community outreach… graphic design, photography, digital filmmaking, musical talents, and more.
Frequency: as available
Shifts: flexible, during special events
Location: in-store, around Columbia, at special events
myFairTrade
Build of off-site initiatives by hosting a fair trade open house or fundraiser for your group or charity.
Frequency: as available
Shifts: flexible, please contact us at least two weeks before your desired event date

Internships
Join our team of dedicated and enthusiastic interns!
Frequency: new internship hired every fall, spring, and summer
Shifts: internships last one full semester, schedules vary with each position
